Carl Zeitler has been working
steadily in numerous productions throughout the Chicagoland area for the past
decade. He has worked with Joliet Drama Guild, First Street Playhouse, Funhouse
Productions, The Chanooka Center Stage Theatre Company, The Albright Theatre
Company, Midsummer Theatre Troupe, n.u.f.a.n. ensemble, Riverfront Playhouse,
Grove Players, Shakespeare on Clark, and GreenMan Theatre Troupe. Prior to
that, it had been 18 years since he performed in a play, which he did at his
alma mater of Oak Park and River Forest High School. He has in recent years
taught a drama club at the elementary school where he is a reading specialist,
and he has written and directed several short plays featuring students in first
through fifth grade.
Carl made his GreenMan debut as the title
character in Dracula in the fall of 2008. He served as Assistant
Director on Pride and Prejudice the following fall. He also appeared in
the GreenMan productions of Speakeasy or Die Hard (McClain, Tommy), Here's
Looking at You...Dead! (Nick), Shakespeare in Hollywood (Oberon), Ravenscroft
(Inspector Ruffing), How the West Was Done In (Victor/Kent), Love
Throughout the Ages (Various), and The Matchmaker (Cornelius Hackl).
He most recently appeared as the title character in Macbeth. He has
served as co-playwright for Here's Looking at You...Dead!, How the West Was
Done In, and the upcoming Smoking Gun. Carl was the Production
Coordinator on Ravenscroft, How the West Was Done In, and The
Matchmaker. Carl is in his fourth year as a member on the GreenMan
Board of Trustees and currently serves as Publicity Chairman.
Elsewhere, Carl was a co-founder of Funhouse
Productions and The Chanooka Center Stage Theatre Company. He produced Death
By Chocolate and An Evening of One-Act Comedies for CCSTC and And
Then There Were None for First Street Playhouse. He directed Sure Thing for
CCSTC. Some of Carl's notable onstage roles include Rumors (Lenny), Bell
Book and Candle (Shep), and The Nerd (Willum) for Joliet Drama
Guild, The House of Yes (Anthony) for Funhouse Productions, Closer (Dan)
for Riverfront Playhouse, Twelfth Night (Sebastian) for Midsummer
Theatre Troupe, Death By Chocolate (Dick Simmering) at The Chanooka
Center Stage Theatre Company, And Then There Were None (Blore) at First
Street Playhouse, Sabrina Fair (Linus) at Grove Players, and The
Taming of the Shrew (Petruchio) at Shakespeare on Clark.
