GreenMan Theatre Troupe's 2012-2013 Season Announced!!GreenMan’s ninth season will begin with its annual presentation of “Spooky Stories of the Season” under the direction of Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff. This presentation of chilling tales comes from participants chosen after completion of the storytelling class, which is taught by Thomas-Davidoff. “Spooky Stories of the Season” will occur on October 5 & 6, 2012.
Next up will be our fall mainstage production of William Shakespeare’s anatomy of evil, “Macbeth.” This will be the first foray into Shakespeare for GreenMan, and we hope you join us for this production under the direction of Artistic Director David Soria during 9 weekend performance dates from October 19-November 4, 2012.
In February and March 2013, we present an original script by Carl Zeitler and Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff, “Smoking Gun.” This dinner theatre murder mystery event helps us raise funds necessary for us to operate throughout the year. “Smoking Gun” will be directed by Thomas-Davidoff and deals with a private detective searching for a priceless diamond while avoiding underworld figures and corrupt powerful entertainment industry officials in 1930’s Los Angeles. Join us at Angelo’s Ristorante in Elmhurst for five performances from February 22-March 3, 2013.
GreenMan will then offer their 2013 Showcase production of the classic children’s book “The Secret Garden.” Linda Roberts, who has extensive acting and directing credits in the Chicagoland area, will adapt this story about rebirth and the healing power of love and care, and she will direct the production. This is something that the whole family can enjoy, and performances will take place April 5-14, 2013. Corporate funding for this production by BMO Harris Bank.
The season will come to a close with the spring mainstage production of “After the End of the World,” which deals with the theme of endings, beginnings, and other apocalyptic scenarios. This collection of short plays and/or one-acts will take on this theme from a variety of perspectives. Titles and directors will be announced shortly. If the Mayans were wrong in their calendar prophecies, please join us for 3 weekends from May 3-19, 2013.
All performances, except for “Smoking Gun,” take place at First United Methodist Church at 232 S. York in Elmhurst. For additional details and show times, please call 630-464-2646 throughout the upcoming season.
