"Speakeasy or Die Hard” is an original interactive murder mystery dinner theatre. The play takes place in a Prohibition Era speakeasy. Gangsters, bootleggers, and two dim-witted spies stumble onto the stage of auditions to become the new star of Ziegfeld’s Follies. When one of the mobsters is mysteriously gunned down, the guests try to help a hapless detective solve the killing. The production will feature songs from the 1920’s and ‘30’s.

GreenMan board member Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff, who directed last winter’s popular “Honeymoon from Hell,” will direct the show.

Elmhurst residents appearing in the production include Mario D’Agostino, Shazad Mehta, David Perez, Cynthia Rosati, and Jim Zervas. From Glen Ellyn, Maria Benner, Martin Gonzalez, and Carl Zeitler appear in the cast. Villa Park residents Lauren Anders and Stan Kosek will appear. Other actors cast in the production include Angela Bend [St. Charles], Angelicque Cate [Wheaton], Grace Martinez [Chicago], Katie Monahan [Oak Park], and Scott Surowiecki [Chicago]. Elmhurst resident Anne Thompson is the music director. Behind the scenes, Jim Ocasek and David Soria [both Elmhurst] are production managers. Benjamin Vargas [Addison] will design the costumes. Cheryl Turek [Glen Ellyn] is the stage manager. Marilyn Connolly and Vicky Budynsky [both Elmhurst] assist the production team.
